Makeup or Made-up?

Have you ever wondered… Makeup products sound like some nuclear missile’s name?

“You know what, I recently bought this Mac Pro Longwear Foundation and Concealer NC 20.”Β Woah! I feel as if I’m out of breath if I say it in one go. XD

You start with the basic moisturiser and then the list is never ending. BB cream, foundation, concealer, compact, contour, highlighter, blush and what not is put on your face. Well, that’s the only reason girls are told the time, which is 2 hours prior to the actual meeting time (because make-up my friends, takes hell lot of time).

More than half of the products that I have in my “so-called makeup kit”, are stolen from my mom’s kit. πŸ˜› Until last year, I was a complete ZERO when it came to knowledge about makeup products. I had no clue about the difference between foundation and concealer; I didn’t know that something like “contouring” also existed (And my younger sister on the other hand, was/is way ahead than me in all of this stuff πŸ˜› ).

Makeup for me was basic Kajal and a light shade of lipstick, that’s it. But when I looked around myself, I saw people decked up with infinite layers of creams or powders all over their face. So, I thought of learning basic makeup for survival in such competitive world πŸ˜› (And, I actually stood by the word “basic”).

You know what, I’ve come across a lot of people who look good when they are on their natural mode. But… as soon as they go into their makeup zone (or I should say made-up zone), I think I don’t know that person anymore. I go and ask them, “Have you seen my friend named XYZ? She just went inside to get ready. Was she inside when you left?” XD It’s like, the girl I met an hour before and the girl I see standing in front of me now, look poles apart.

While surfing on the net, I came across some statements by men, on women’s make-up. Some of them were (it was hard to control my laughter while I was reading them):

“Keep it simple and natural. To me, this is the sexiest look. Nobody wants to kiss a clown!”

“Bottom line: if she looks good with her hair up eating Chinese food and wearing sweat pants, then she doesn’t need makeup.”

“If I can’t see skin and her eyelashes look like Tammy Faye Baker, it’s too much!”

Personally, I like the feel of having the exact same face (excluding the dirt and oil) at the end of the day, as I had in the morning. That means, no or very little make-up, to enjoy being the real you. Also, I believe that not wearing makeup on a regular basis, and then suddenly dressing up and applying makeup for an occasion, would turn all eyes on you, won’t it? And who doesn’t want that? πŸ˜‰

Well, let’s try and figure this out first. Who do we put makeup for? Is it to admire our (artificial) beauty, every-time we stand in front of the mirror? OR Is it to impress guys?

IF it’s to impress guys, then let me tell you one thing straight,

GuysΒ want to kiss a woman’s face and not the makeup on it. Who wants to feel like they are kissing a mask?

Now do you get it?

So girls… Go natural, give your skin a break and let it breathe (our “not-so-fresh and pollution free” air πŸ˜› )
